The Role

• Structural Bioinformatician

• New Dublin-based scientist role in Data Science Team

• Structural modelling, structure-based predictions, binding affinity to given targets

• Develop bioinformatics software tools

• Interpreting and integrating large scale biological data

• Build rigorous processes for molecules discovery and validation workflow

• Implement quality control and data quality monitoring procedures 


Responsibilities

• Develop tools and pipelines to help understand the mechanisms of action of discovered bioactive molecules

• Work with biologists to understand and respond to the requirements for computational modelling

• Investigate and propose new modelling solutions

• Optimise leverage of available computational resources; proactively expand existing and identify new resources

• Stay up-to-date with publicly available technologies

 

About You

Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

Motivated and proactive, passionate about complex challenges in computer science

Keen to work in a fast paced, growing and dynamic company; start-up experience is a plus

• Skilled in organising and optimising the working environment

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver against several deadlines, high sense of accountability

• Excellent communicational skills, both written and verbal, in English

• Ability to communicate with experimental biologists, biochemists, computer scientists and non-scientists

 

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in biological software and algorithm development or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

• Experience with developing recognised publicly available bioinformatics or chemistry software is highly desired

• Familiar with structural bioinformatics tools (protein databases, structural alignment etc.)

• Familiar with molecular modelling and molecular dynamics

• Familiar with protein-protein and ligand-receptor interaction modelling

• Familiar with OOP and scripting languages (python is a must)

• Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques, in particular Deep Learning, is a plus
