The Biological Sciences team are an interdisciplinary, multi-cultural and science-driven team passionate about leveraging nature’s potential for human health and a sustainable food system.

The Role 

·       Laboratory Technician

·       New Dublin-based role  

·       Provide a support role in the laboratory assisting in multiple R&D projects

·       Ensuring all laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained and registered for warranties (including internal/external laboratory equipment checks)

·       Autoclaving of laboratory reagents and consumables

·       Proper disposal of waste material from laboratory, cleaning of glassware, safe use of e.g. liquid nitrogen and other duties as required

·       Perform data analysis and writing reports and scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals 

·       You are well organised, a good team-player and you pay high attention to detail 

Responsibilities 

·       Working with teams across the company to characterise bioactive peptides through the discovery and early development phases  

·       Performance of molecular biology techniques, e.g. ELISA, western blotting, flow cytometry, tissue culture, colorimetric assays 

·       Use of electronic laboratory notebook  

·       Present project results at internal meetings as appropriate, with clear analysis and recommendations for further planning meetings 

·       Play an active role in adhering to and improving the safety of the laboratory 

·       Maintain up-to-date knowledge of your specific science area, and technical developments, particularly with regards to time-saving, more efficient techniques 

·       Administrative duties including management of equipment and suppliers, compliance with regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates

Requirements 

·       BSc in a relevant biological science area 

·       Experience in tissue culture

·       2+ years’ experience in industry is a key advantage 

·       Experience in yeast culture and cloning a key advantage 

·       Proven ability to deliver scientifically robust results and entire projects in a timely manner 

·       Proven ability to work independently 

·       Excellent presentation skills 

·       Fluency in English 

·       Computer literate
